Terms of Service

Last updated: May 25, 2026

We keep things simple: list your clutter, choose how much of your share to give (your share is what is left after a small platform fee and payment processing), and 100% of what you give reaches the nonprofit you picked. Here are the ground rules.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using clutter.sale, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What clutter.sale Is

clutter.sale is a marketplace for household items where the seller may direct a share of each sale to a nonprofit they choose. Members list items they no longer need; buyers purchase them for local pickup; the platform handles the payment escrow and routes the seller's chosen share to the nonprofit they picked. We are the platform that connects members and handles the transaction. We do not own, inspect, or take possession of any listed items.

Sellers Are Donors

When an item sells, the seller chooses how much of their share to give to the nonprofit they picked, and all of what they give goes to that nonprofit. The seller's share is what is left after the platform fee and payment processing fees, and the seller receives a tax donation receipt for the amount given.

Fees

clutter.sale charges a 15% platform fee on each completed sale, unless a lower rate has been agreed for a particular seller, and standard payment processing fees come off what is left. The remainder is the seller's, and any gift to a nonprofit comes out of that remainder. Listing items is free.

Escrow & Payments

At purchase, the buyer's payment is held securely. Funds are released only after both the buyer and seller confirm the pickup. All card and bank details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe). clutter.sale never stores payment instrument data.

Pickups & Safety

All exchanges happen in person. We strongly recommend meeting in safe, public locations. clutter.sale is not responsible for incidents that occur during item exchanges; users assume all risk associated with in-person meetups.

Listings & Conduct

You are responsible for the accuracy of your listings and the condition of items you list. You may not list illegal items, weapons, counterfeit goods, hazardous materials, or anything prohibited by applicable law. You may not post abusive, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit content. Violations may result in removal of content and/or account termination.

Reporting & Blocking

You can report any listing, message, or user from inside the app. You can also block any user, which prevents both of you from buying from or messaging each other. We review reports promptly and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings > Delete Account) or from the web at clutter.sale/account/delete. Your personal data is removed immediately; donation records are anonymized as described in our Privacy Policy.

Liability

clutter.sale is provided "as is." We are not responsible for item condition, accuracy of listings, or the outcome of any exchange between members. Our role is limited to operating the platform.

Privacy

Your use of clutter.sale is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
