How long does the hold on my card last?

A hold lasts 24 hours by default. If nothing has happened by then, it is released, the buyer is not charged, and the item goes back on sale.

Agreeing a pickup day extends the hold to cover it: out to the end of the pickup day plus six hours of slack, so a pickup that runs late still settles.

There is a ceiling the platform does not control. A card authorization expires on its own after seven days, and once it does the money can never be taken. So a hold is never pushed past six and a half days from when it was placed, keeping a twelve-hour margin under the card's own limit. That is also why a pickup day can be at most five days out — the day's own midnight has to fit under the ceiling.

Reporting a problem re-parks the hold for a fresh 24-hour window. It never shortens a hold that already runs further out.

The 24 hours is a setting that can be changed. The seven-day card limit is not.
