How do we connect an AI assistant to our charity's account?

Updated October 30, 2026

An AI assistant can work with your charity's Clutter Sale account for you: reading your totals, writing posts for your supporters and preparing profile changes, with you approving anything people would see.

Who can connect it
The person whose account manages the charity on Clutter Sale. If that changes, the connection stops working.

Setting it up
1. In your nonprofit dashboard, open Connected Apps.

2. Confirm it's you with "Verify Sign-In & Staff Authenticator" (your password or Google).

3. Press Create a Connection. For Acting Account choose your charity's name. For Connection Method choose AI Agent (MCP). Choose when it expires (up to 90 days) and tick the actions it may take.

4. Press Create API Key, then copy the key straight away: it is shown once only.

5. In your assistant, add a custom connector or MCP server with the address https://api.clutter.sale/mcp/nonprofit (shown as "Nonprofit MCP Address", with a Copy Address button) and paste the key where it asks. The MCP address is simply where your assistant reaches Clutter.

The full steps, including signing in through Clutter instead of using a key, are in "How do I connect an AI assistant to my Clutter Sale account?"

What it can look at
Your charity's overview and account, your donation totals and each donation, the listings supporting you (including ones shared with other causes), your campaign materials, your posts, and the receipts for donations made to you. It can also answer questions from our help articles. Ask it for an impact summary and it writes one from these figures; the summary stays in your assistant until you use it.

What it can do
- Write and edit post drafts. They stay private.

- Ask to publish a post, to everyone or only to your supporters. It waits for your approval.

- Ask to change your profile: name, website, mission, phone or category. It waits for your approval. Once your charity is approved, changes to your name, website, phone or category then go to our team for review, as they do when you make them yourself.

What it can't do
Anything to do with payouts, your bank or Stripe, moving money, approving its own requests, or changing who manages the charity.

Approving and stopping it
Approve its requests from Requests & Drafts on Connected Apps. See what it did under Recent Activity. Press Disconnect to stop it at any time.
